I think of all the mothers who want there first child to be out of their crib before their next baby arrives and I truly could not care if Tyrus is in a crib until he graduates. My mother-in-law gave me her "Grandma crib" when they moved to Iowa so I have two cribs. No pressure to get Ty out to make room for the new baby, right? Well, Tyrus can get out of his crib and it is almost a compulsion for him. We have a video monitor, also from Grandma Terri, and to watch him is so hilarious. He gets up on the rail and rides it like a horse and goes back and forth. You can tell that he really wants to get out but knows he should stay in all at the same time.
Eventually he gets out and then looks at the crib and wishes that he could get back in. He tries but he can't get back in if the railing is up. We go in and he is obviously ashamed of himself. We have decided not to punish him for this because he seems to know that this is not what he should be doing. So, he sits on the floor and trying not to cry he says, "Ty get out of trib." "Ty out." After he got out on Friday night at 11pm James and I went in and I said "Maybe we should just try putting his mattress on the floor." Tyrus immediately started running in circles, literally, saying "try it" "try it" "try it." We tried it. It worked. He is now all done with his crib. I must say that I am sad to be done with the crib.
