My mom told us about the free carriage rides they were offering on Saturday afternoon during the holidays down on Main street so we decided to check them out. We took our nephew Cade with us to enjoy in the fun. I might not use the word fun to describe the event after the fact. We waited in line for 20 minutes. Not so bad unless you are in 10* weather and have two little boys who just want to run around and the street looks like a good option. So we loaded our frozen selves onto the carriage and went for our ride. We took the above pictures so as to never forget our fun and then the let us out on the other end of the road. Not the other side, the other end. Yes your free ride comes complete with a walk all the way back down Main Street. Keep in mind that I am pregnant and having contractions if I move, well, any faster than a very old lady. The boys are getting cold but if we keep moving maybe we will warm up.
While in the area we decided to try visiting Santa. Another "fun" thing to do on a very cold Saturday in December. Ok, lets go over this. The boys could have cared less if we went to see Santa. James and I had no patience left and yet there we stood in a line long enough to make you think maybe this is the real Santa or someone rich enough to make all my dreams come true. I had my camera, we were there and we were going to do this. Why? I have NO idea. If you know I would appreciate an explanation.
After standing in line for 15 minutes Tyrus took his gloves off and immediately fell into the snow. James and I tried to pull things back together. We failed. We left. We questioned why we thought this was fun and then went home to warm ourselves up. Do you know what the kicker was? Neither Cade or Tyrus was upset that we left.
We will make a return trip to Santa's house another day. A warmer day.
